Award-Winning Climate Change Work
June 5, 2009: Joel Smith and Lee Rozaklis accepted the 2009 Water Conservation ReWard on behalf of the Boulder Climate Change and Water Supply Team. With this award, the Center for Resource Conservation honors an individual or group of individuals who have made advances in the conservation of water resources throughout the front range.
The Boulder Climate Change and Water Supply Team consists of Joel B. Smith, a Vice President of Stratus Consulting Inc.; Kenneth Strzepek, University of Colorado; Lee Rozaklis, AMEC Inc.; Carol Ellinghouse, City of Boulder; and Kathleen C. Hallett, The Applegate Group, Inc. (formerly of Stratus Consulting). The team won the award for their study entitled The Potential Consequences of Climate Change for Boulder Colorado’s Water Supplies. This study combined the potential impacts of climate change with long-term climate variability to examine their effects on the water supply of the Boulder community.
The study was funded by the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration Office of Atmospheric Research Climate Program Office.
